Alta Kathleen Brame, 92, of Minford, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at her residence.
Born July 5, 1917, in Scioto County, a daughter of the late Milton H. and Grace E. (Fremont) Oberley, she was a bookkeeper for The Standard Supply Co. in Portsmouth from 1952 to 1966 and was a cashier for the former Mercy Hospital in Portsmouth for 12 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of Harrison Free Will Baptist Church, a graduate of Minford High School in the class of 1935, and during World War II she worked at Wright Field in Dayton, Ohio, for two years.
She is survived by seven nephews and nieces, Gene Oberley, Paul Oberley, Nancy Smith, Patricia Graham, David Oberley, Cleo Oberley, Ronald Oberley, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Arthur Edward Ward, on May 30, 1971, and Willard Brame on March 29, 2009; two brothers, Wells Oberley and Lowell Oberley; and a nephew, Randall Oberley. She is also survived by four step-daughters.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Pastor Daryl Grimes officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
