George Elvin McLaughlin, 92, of Minford, died Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Southern Ohio Medical Center. Born Aug. 4, 1919, in Scioto County, a son of the late George R. and Ruby C. White McLaughlin, he was retired from Osco in 1981, was a Minford 1938 graduate, was a member of Fairview Missionary Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by one son, Glenn (Donna) McLaughlin of Grove City; two granddaughters, Megan Plonka of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Miranda McLaughlin of Columbus; and six nieces and nephews, Sara Renfro of Texas, Cindy Ferguson of Texas, Tim Doyle of Alabama, Beverly Ross of Fla., Christa Higgins of Florida, and Susan Gearhart of Ky.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Gearheart McLaughlin on August 13, 2010, who he married Feb. 23, 1945; one son, Paul McLaughlin; and three brothers, Sylvan McLaughlin, Roger McLaughlin and Howard McLaughlin.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Pastor Tim Palla officiating. Burial will be in White Cemetery in Minford. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m until 1 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service.
