Helen Irene Hancock, 86, of Portsmouth, died Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at her residence.
Born Dec. 25, 1921, in New Boston, Ohio, a daughter of the late Charles Edward Morris and Mabel Irene Krueger Morris, she had lived most of her life in Scioto County.
She was a retired licensed practical nurse for Mercy Hospital for 28 years, a graduate of Minford High School in the class of 1939, and a member of Central Baptist Church in Portsmouth.
She is survived by a son, Raymond Edward Hancock of Portsmouth; two daughters, Dawn I. (Chaz) Arthur of Portsmouth, and Jean (Randy) Allen of Portsmouth; one brother, Ed (Ann) Morris of Florida; two sisters, Eleanor (Jay) Pinson of San Jose, Calif., and Jean Moore of Waverly; four grandchildren, Angela Kitchen, Marcie Besco, Barbara Murphy, and Rae Lynn Hancock; and five great-grandchildren, Jordan Kitchen, Brock Kitchen, Tyler Besco, Josh Besco and Alyssa Jaden Murphy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Raymond Hancock on October 5, 1960, and a niece, Barbara June Pinson Russo.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2008, at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford, with Jason Coriell officiating. Burial will be in Bennett Cemetery in Minford. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
