Mildred E. Thompson, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, at Hill View Retirement Center.

She was born to Lee and Martha Garrett Warren of Minford on Aug. 18, 1918. She was a graduate of Minford High School.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Judge Lowell C. Thompson, on Dec. 26, 1967; and a sister, Altha Parker.

She is survived by two daughters, Martha Skiver of Minford and Jeannine Shelpman of Lucasville; two grandchildren, Shawn Skiver of South Carolina and Amanda (Mike) Koverman of Minford; three great-grandchildren, who were the love of her life, Matthew, MacKenzie and Garrett Koverman; brothers and sisters, Boyd Warren, Virginia Casteel, Naomi (Ray) Dever, and Willis (Pauline) Warren, all of Minford; and several nieces and nephews.

Mildred was Clerk of Courts of Scioto County 39 1/2 years, an active community member and served on many local and state boards of community organizations, too numerous to mention.

She and her late husband were 4-H advisors for years and influenced many young people in the community.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at F.C. Daehler Mortuary Company in Portsmouth, with Pastor David Smith officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park at Wheelersburg. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Daehlers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the 4-H endowment fund, Minford Alumni, or to the Otis and Earlene Bell Memorial Worship Center Fund at Hill View Retirement Center.
