Mr. Bob Bowen, Class of 1949
Coined the phrase, "The Mighty Minford Falcons"
Bob Bowen graduated from Minford High School in the Class of 1949.
After graduating from high school, Bob spent 3 1/2 years in the United State Air Force. He served as a Staff Sergeant, and he worked as radar man in Alaska part of that time.
When Bob was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1952, he enrolled as a student at The Ohio State University. He graduated from OSU in 1956 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Radio and Television.
Immediately after college graduation in 1956, Bob accepted a position as Disc Jockey at WTNS Radio in Coshocton, Ohio. He appeared each morning on the "Let's Get Together With Records" show, and in the evenings he appeared on the "Hillbilly Hoedown" show.
In 1958, Bob and his family moved from Coshocton, Ohio to Huntington, West Virginia where he accepted a position as Radio Announcer at WSAZ. He was promoted to Sports Director at WSAZ-TV in 1967 where he remained until his retirement in 1990.
