Stanley Peach, age 96, of Portsmouth, passed away April 6, 2014, at home.
He was born January 15, 1918, near Minford, Ohio, to the late William Alfred and Grace Mahaffey Peach.
Stanley was a 1936 graduate of Minford High School, was a member of the Sciotoville Christian Church where he served for many years as an elder and Sunday School teacher and was also a member of the Shawnee Nature Club. Stanley was retired from the Portsmouth Daily Times where he worked as a district manager in the circulation department.
He was a World War II Veteran, having earned a Purple Heart.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Maddy Peach in 2002, and daughter, Kay Peach Coriell in 2008. Also preceding him in death were a brother, Emerson, and sisters, Verna, Florence, Lola, Garnet, Hazel and Phyllis.
Surviving are a sister, Bette Edwards of Phoenix, AZ; sisters-in-law, Rita Hewitt and Monta Daulton; daughters, Polly (Bob) Warnock and Joan (Mike) Coriell both of Portsmouth; son-in-law, Steve Coriell of Portsmouth; three grandsons, Greg (Nikki) Coriell of Clarksville, OH, and Tim and Jay Coriell of Portsmouth, and one great-grandson, Kieran Bauer.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014, at the Sciotoville Christian Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Stanley's memory to the church camp, Howell's Mill Christian Assembly, 99 Christian Camp Road, Ona, WV 25545.
