Velda Pfleger, 89, of Minford, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Elbrooke Pavillion in Minford.
Born Dec. 4, 1920, in New Boston, she was the daughter of the late Ora McKinley and Esta (Kallner) Wells. She was of the Christian faith and for many years led the Methodist Youth Fellowship with her husband at the former Minford Methodist Church. She and her husband owned and operated Pfleger’s General Store in Minford for many years and she was a charter member of the James Irwin Post Ladies Auxiliary American Legion.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Jo Pfleger of Minford; one sister, Etta Skaggs of Wheelersburg; one brother, Clarence Wells of Minford; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Ralph Pfleger, on Dec. 4, 1995; two brothers, Isaac “Bill” Wells and Major Jack Wells; a sister, Violet Owens; and a nephew, Anthony Wells.
The family would like to give a special thank you to all the employees at Elbrooke Pavillion in Minford and Barry at SOMC Hospice.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 2010, at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford, with the Rev. Don Pfleger officiating. Burial will be at St. Johns Cemetery in Jackson County. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday before the service.
